Pokljuka Gorge

The Pokljuka plateau is a treasure trove of natural wonders, the best known of which is the Pokljuka Gorge. This nearly 2 km long ravine is a remnant of a stream which, at the end of the last Ice Age, cut up to 40 metres deep into the limestone slopes above the Radovna. The waters gradually lowed away, and the stream withdrew into the underground, leaving behind the largest dry fossil gorge in Slovenia.

Vintgar Gorge

The Radovna river cuts the Vintgar Gorge deep between the hills of Hom and Boršt. It is flanked by steep slopes overgrown with beech forests. Locals have always viewed the gorge with awe and respect. It was discovered in 1891 by Mr Jakob Žumer, the mayor of Gorje, and Mr Benedikt Lergetporer, a cartographer and photographer from Bled. Both were amazed by the beauty and the mysterious character of this natural attraction. In 1893 the gorge was opened to the public. The Vintgar Gorge is the 1600 meters long and up to 250 meters deep gorge on the Eastern part of the Triglav National Park, 4 kilometres Northwest from the centre of Bled. Visit Vintgar Gorge

Driving thru the valley on bike is a great adventure.
